Our Tim KNIFTON has been at it again.
Tim recently entered pictures into the 28th Malaysian Salon of Photography and was successful in getting one of his images accepted and also receiving an F.I.A.P. Hounourable Mention for his Venitian Sunrise image.



Congratulations Tim. You deserve the accolade because you put in the work and effort, well done.

Practical Evening with the Ebbw Vale Owl Sanctuary and their Owls
Thursday 12th June, we welcomed the Ebbw Vale Owl Sanctuary to our club for a practical evening photographing the birds in a studio environment. Here are some of our stalwarts taking advantage of The Owl Sanctuarys Owls. Chris, Debbie and Peter are really enjoying taking the birds pictures.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tim Knifton who has again been successful in an external event.

Tim has informed me that he has been awarded First Place in the 5th round of the Aviation Photographer of the Year 2008 Competition. (Civil Aviation), with the following image.

Print & Digital Image Battle vs Caldicot Camera Club. (Home)
On 22nd May 2008

Both clubs met to take part in a Print and Slide 'Battle' with each other with 10 prints and 10 Slides from each club judged by an independent judge on the night. The battle was held at Caldicot’s club house.

On this occasion Caldicot scored 147 to Gwent’s 167 on the prints before half time refreshments were served.

When the second half resumed and the Slides were judged, Caldicot scored 170 points to Gwent’s 179.

The total scores were Caldicot scoring 317 to Gwent’s 346 making it a win for our club by 29 points.

Our Club was represented with work from a number of members both old and new including Chris Waite, Alan Weybourne, Stewart Brooks, Peter Rowlands, Tim Knifton and Glyn Harding.

The subjects submitted by the club were quite broad including macro, portraiture, landscape, pictorial, seascape and wildlife photography.

Print & Digital Image Battle vs Caerphilly Camera Club. (Home)
On 22nd May 2008

Both clubs met to take part in a Print and Digital Image 'Battle' with each other with 10 prints and 10 Images from each club judged by an independent judge on the night. The battle was held at Brynglas House.

On this occasion both clubs made 172 points on the prints before half time refreshments were served.

When the second half resumed and the Digital Images were judged, Gwent scored 166 points to Caerphilly’s 163.

On this occasion, we won the Battle with 3 points in it, Gwent scoring 338 to Caerphilly’s 335.

Our Club was represented with work from a number of members both old and new including Chris Waite, Alan Weybourne, Stewart Brooks, Peter Rowlands and Glyn Harding.

The subjects submitted by the club were quite broad including macro, landscape and seascape and wildlife photography.

THE GWENT LEVELS

Dean Photographic Club Print and Projected Digital Image Battle

Dean Photographic Club was invited to our club on 24th January 2008 for a Print and Projected Digital Image Battle. The Judge was Gary Green from Bridgend.

The following entries were submitted by each club, the scores next to each title are the marks given to each entry by the Judge. The print section was marked first followed by the Digital Image section with refreshments taken half time.

After some close running marks, Gwent Photographic won with just 2 points in it. Dean invited us back to their club for a battle in January 2009. Everyone agreed that it was a complete success.
