SOCIETY RULES
  1. The club shall be called 'The Gwent Photographic & Digital Imaging Society, and membership shall be open to all interested in photography.
  2. Membership of the Society implies the undertaking to comply with and abide by these rules.
  3. ...
    1. Subscriptions shall be fixed at the Annual General Meeting, and payable at the end of January and end of July.
    2. Prospective members are allowed to attend one term without payment.
    3. Only fully paid up members would be eligible to.....
      • Have a vote and be eligible for nomination for election at Annual General Meetings
      • Enter Society Competitions.
      • Benefit from the Lottery scratch card.
  4. The officers shall consist of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer, Syllabus Secretary, Competition Secretary.
  5. The affairs of the Society shall be managed by the elected Officers (Rule 4) and two Ordinary Committee Members.
  6. All Officers and Ordinary Committee members are to be elected at the Annual General meeting and are eligible for re-election each year.
  7. Special meetings may be convened on a requisition signed by at least six members, stating the object, and sent to the Secretary at least fourteen days before the date proposed.
  8. At committee meetings, four shall form a quorum, and at a general meeting, eleven.
  9. The Secretary shall keep minutes of all the meetings, and conduct the correspondence of the Society.
  10. The Treasurer shall collect all subscriptions and monies due. At the close of each Society year a balance sheet shall be drawn up by the Treasurer and audited by two ordinary members appointed for this purpose at the Annual general Meeting.
  11. A Society member may be expelled or asked to resign at the decision of the committee. The committee can request a member to appear before it, provided that where any accusation or charge is made, the member shall be given full and reasonable opportunity to put forward a defence and bring witnesses at a later meeting. Any member expelled or asked to resign shall have the right of appeal to a Special General meeting called for this purpose. All Committee proceedings and those of any Special General Meeting called under this rule, shall be treated as privileged and confidential.
  12. The names of any member whose subscription is more than one month in arrears may be removed from the membership list by order of the committee.
  13. The Society accepts no responsibility whatsoever for items damaged or lost, whilst at the Society's venue.
  14. In the event of a dissolution, a Special General Meeting shall be called at which a liquidator shall be appointed, and a decision made then or subsequently as to the disposal of all Society assets.
  15. No alteration of, or addition to, these rules shall be made except by the Annual General Meeting or a Special Meeting called in accordance with Rule 7.
MONTHLY & END OF YEAR COMPETITION RULES
 
MONTHLY COMPETITION RULES
 
GENERAL
 
  1. There are two sections in each of the competitions:- Improvers and Advanced. Improvers entries to be identified with the letters 'IMP'.
  2. Points will be awarded 10, 7, 4 for Ist, 2nd and 3rd places, and certificates presented. Members will also receive one point per entry. Judges will receive two points by exhibiting their own work.
  3. The judge may, at his discretion, not award all three places, depending on the standard or number of entries.
  4. An entry may be submitted in more than one competition, assuming that it fits the theme.
  5. In the event of a rule being contravened, the entry may receive comments, but will NOT be eligible for a 'placing'.
  6. Trophies will be awarded to Merit Table(ADV) winner & Merit Table(IMP) winner taken from league table, based on overall points accumulated during the year, and plaques awarded to 2nd and 3rd places. Trophies will also be awarded to the PPOTY winner and SPOTY winner, also taken from the same league table, based on points accumulated from print/slide competitions during the year, respectfully.
  7. All entries to be handed in at least SEVEN DAYS prior to the competition (FOURTEEN DAYS, if an outside judge is used).
PRINT COMPETITIONS
 
  1. Maximum of FIVE entries per member
  2. The mount to be a maximum size of 20" X 16" or 12" X 16".
  3. Prints to be a minimum size of 10" along one dimension and a maximum size of 16" X 12".
  4. Photography and mounting to be the complete work of the entrant.
  5. There are two categories - Black & White and Colour, except when entries in either category
    fall below seven in number.
SLIDE COMPETITION
 
  1. Maximum of FIVE entries per member
  2. Slides must be mounted in 2" X 2" (50cm X 50cm) mounts.
  3. Mounts to be spotted on lower left hand corner when viewed in the hand.

END OF YEAR COMPETITION RULES
 
GENERAL
 
  1. Prints can be B&W, Colour, Digital, the photographers own work or trade processed, but
    ALL
    photography and mounting to be the complete work of the entrant.
  2. Entries must NOT have been submitted in any club competition prior to the current year.

  3. Prints may be entered in a maximum of four competitions in the current year, including
    End of Year competitions.
  4. A trophy and plaque will be awarded to the entrant taking first place in each of these
    competitions, and plaques presented to those gaining second and third places in the
    P.O.T.Y and S.O.T.Y. competitions.
  5. All entries to be handed in at least FOURTEEN DAYS prior to the competition, or earlier,
    if the external judge so requests
  6. In the event of a rule being contravened, the entry may receive comments, but will NOT
    be eligible for a 'placing'.
PRINT OF THE YEAR
 
  1. Maximum of FIVE entries per member
  2. The mount to be a maximum size of 20" X 16" or 12" X 16"
    uniform size
  3. Prints to be a minimum size of 10" along one dimension and a maximum size of 16" X 12".

  5. There is a seperate catagory for Improvers, who's entry is to be identified with the letters 'IMP'
SLIDE OF THE YEAR
 
  1. Maximum of FIVE entries per member
  2. Slides must be mounted in 2" X 2" (50cm X 50cm) mounts.
  3. Mounts to be spotted on lower left hand corner when viewed in the hand.
PRINT PANEL OF THE YEAR
 
  1. Limit of ONE entry per member
  2. An entry to consist of a panel of FIVE prints, to be mounted individually
  3. Photography and mounting to be as General E-O-Y competition rules.
  4. The entry should depict the range of skills of the photographer
SLIDE PANEL OF THE YEAR
 
  1. Limit of ONE entry per member
  2. An entry to consist of SIX slides, to be mounted in 2" X 2" (50cm X 50cm) mounts.
  3. Mounts to be spotted on lower left hand corner when viewed in the hand.
  4. The entry should depict the range of skills of the photographer
  5. Entries to be in accordance with General E-O-Y rules b) and c).
