1.     Ace of Clubs Digital!!

     Last year due – we thought – to the dearth of new slides being created and the wholesale change to digital photography the 2007 event only attracted 9 Club entries and 5 or 6 of those had created slides from digital images to provide enough images for their entry.

     We talked about this and it was the subject of a Proposition at the AGM last year where we all debated the need for change to a Digital Ace of Clubs – this was carried by an overwhelming majority as everyone saw the logic of the need for change this your Executive has done.

     The top two Clubs from this year’s event will represent the WPF in the PAGB Inter Club event at Warwick and the WPF said that we would pay for the creation of slides to enter Warwick for these two Clubs for 2008 – in 2009 Warwick is also going to be a Digital event following the same logic as the WPF.

     The closing date for this year’s Ace of Clubs has passed and we have received a total entry of: -

     NINE – that’s right! – Just 9 Clubs.

     The big change of policy has actually achieved precisely NOTHING! I would personally and obviously the WPF Executive need to know what the issue is – I would be grateful if anyone with opinions would take the trouble to drop me an Email letting me know – there is an Executive meeting on Sunday 10th so if you could respond by then I would be grateful.

     The good news is that the event will still take place on Sunday 17th February – probably without the Plate competition.

     I am also arbitrarily extending the closing date until the 11th February to see if some busy Clubs out there would then have time to put an entry together – The Ace like the Welsh Salon happens the same weekends every year so should not have come as a total surprise!
