1. Welsh Salon 2008 and 2009
This year’s entries were unpacked and sorted by the Executive and helpers from The Vale and Bridgend this weekend ready for the selection next Sunday, 37 Clubs have entered this year with well over 1,000 prints being entered I must thank all those that have entered for their support and wish them all the best for their images.
Next year’s event is in need of a sponsoring Club and venue; Aberystwyth have offered to host the event in 2010 and we are looking forward to showing this Exhibition off up North (Of the WPF that is!) so how about a Club out West or East taking this opportunity to bring photography and themselves to the attention of their local public. That’s all that is needed is a venue for about a month from mid April to mid May to display about 150 prints say 150 to 200 foot length of display area (ideally with some supervision, access for disabled and reasonably lit) – the WPF will be able to provide free standing print boards and frames together with advice and help on what needs doing. Oh! and by the way if you know of a local celebrity or staunch local politician to perform the official opening it would help with your an our publicity.
If you have a tentative suggestion give one of us a call or drop an Email we would be only to pleased to visit and review the facility and your requirements.

3. RPS 2008 Exhibition of the Colour Group
The 2008 exhibition of the RPS Colour Group has now opened at the Pontypridd Museum and Information Centre and will be on display until Friday 28th March . A great show of varied work which should be of interest to WPF members . I would be pleased if you could include some reference to this in a forthcoming NEWSFLASH .
Thanks, Rob Owens
4. Clive Haynes RPS Lecture at Bridgend
Still some tickets left to see:
Clive Haynes FRPS
Photoshop Techniques for Personal Expression
Clive Haynes is Chairman, RPS Digital Imaging Group, RPS DI Regional organizer ( Midlands ) and panel member for RPS Licentiateship distinction submissions. Clive has authored books and videotapes, produced and presented many lectures and multi-projector A V shows. In addition, his work has been used to illustrate books.
Clive has always sought to share the joy and excitement of photography and picture- making with a wider audience. He enjoys sharing his knowledge in an open exchange with an audience and he definitely does not believe in ‘keeping secrets’.
The presentation will cover a range of Photoshop techniques with the emphasis on good practice, efficient working and insightful picture-making. The talk will deal with practical image-making issues and methods in the ‘real world’, in this way, the talk is very much picture-based, rather than the exploitation of technique for its own sake.
People attending the talk should leave with the enthusiasm to develop the methods demonstrated and be able to apply them directly to their images.
